Who doesn’t know the feeling of intense sorrow and gloom regarding the things happening or that have happened in your life? The feeling that you are lying on the ground and can no longer get up… too tired, exhausted, with no hope left.
In my life, it was at those moments when I knew I couldn’t do it alone… that I called upon the Lord to help me.

Trusting that the Lord will catch you when you fall… it makes a huge difference in my daily life. It makes me less afraid to try new things. It gives me more certainty in life because I know that He is watching over me… just as a Father watches over His child.
Does He know that I go through life stumbling and falling? That I make the same mistakes over and over again, even though I don’t want to at all? That I am confronted daily with a world I consider dark and in which I do not feel at home at all?
I have learned that if I do not read His Word (= the Bible) every day, I sink much faster into the darkness and chaos of the world. Then I don’t care that much anymore. Then I am quicker to say ‘Oh, never mind’ and ‘What does it actually matter’. And then I fall…
Reading the Bible is the lamp I need to be able to walk my way in this life…

Workbook
I want to ask you to find five psalms in which David describes feelings that come very close to your feelings. Psalms in which you can recognize yourself. If you then want to choose five verses from those five psalms that actually reflect how your situation is now…
Would you write these five verses down on paper? Just write them down and put the note in your wallet or bag. Then, wherever you are, you can always find comfort in these psalms by simply reading the note.
